About the Author

Marina M. de la Garza grew up in the southern border town of Laredo, Texas where she loved dreaming big. In middle school, she imagined learning new languages, traveling to far-away places to explore and study and becoming a lawyer. With the love and support of her parents and grandmother who taught her to read and write in Spanish she grew up bilingual and was taught to appreciate her Mexican heritage and culture.

After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, she studied French and Art History at Sorbonne University in Paris, France and studied law at McGill University Faculty of Law in Montreal, Canada before earning her law degree at Texas Wesleyan University. Today, she lives in North Texas with her family, is a practicing attorney and mentors high school students.
