Marina M. de la Garza grew up in the southern border town of Laredo, Texas where she loved dreaming big. In middle school, she began learning new languages and imagined traveling to far-away places. This sparked her passion for wanting to study abroad and become a lawyer. With the love and support of her parents and grandmother who taught her to read and write in Spanish, she grew up bilingual. Her family taught her to appreciate her Mexican heritage and culture.
After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, she studied French and Art History at L’Universite’ de la Sorbonne in Paris, France and studied law at McGill University Faculte’ de Droit in Montreal, Canada before earning her law degree at Texas Wesleyan University. Today, she lives in North Texas with her family, is a practicing attorney and mentors high school students.
